Wall treatments can make a huge impact on a room. Sometimes a great wall treatment is all that's required to take your room from nice to WOW! As wallpapers have become fashionable again, most of my clients are becoming bolder with their choices, be bold, be brave!
Although sometimes we see a colour that “suits our personality”, it’s not always the best colour to paint your house. I believe in expressing your choices but striking the right balance to make the colour choices suit the living space.
This season of Home Decor trends is taking a more eco-friendly look with more earthy elements. We are also seeing a cultural fusion taking place in the pattern movement with emphasis on a more eclectic style. With the current economy situation and the movement towards eco-friendly we are seeing the future in home decor colours to use neutrals along with calming colors such as blues and grays to cool tones of blue-purple. The trend also includes colours that have a calmer feel such as golden greens, citrons and other earth tones.
Mixing new & old furnishings is becoming more popular for the discerning. During the credit crunch, take the time to research your local area and find those salvage yards, vintage shops and second hand furniture shops are great for finding “retro treasures”. There’s nothing wrong with mixing an old retro sideboard with other modern furnishings in the room.
